हरिद्वार में पांडा वंशावली का रिकॉर्ड पीढ़ियों से कायम है। कागज की खोज से पहले भोजपत्र पर ये खाता-बही बनते थे लेकिन अब वे अभिलेख उपलब्ध नहीं हैं।

These ledgers may look like junk, but these decades-old pages contain the history of many families and many much thing which we didn't know yet. This tradition started with the discovery of paper and is going on till now. Before the discovery of paper, these ledgers were made on Bhojpatra but those records are no longer available.

ये बहीखाते भले ही कबाड़ की तरह लग रहे हों, लेकिन इन दशकों पुराने पन्नों में कई परिवारों का इतिहास और बहुत कुछ ऐसा है जो हम अभी तक नहीं जानते थे। कागज की खोज से शुरू हुई यह परंपरा अब तक चल रही है। कागज की खोज से पहले भोजपत्र पर ये खाता-बही बनते थे लेकिन अब वे अभिलेख उपलब्ध नहीं हैं।

 

These books have to be kept with care because their pages have become fragile due to being very old, due to which there is a fear of bursting. इन पुस्तकों को सावधानी से रखना पड़ता है क्योंकि इनके पन्ने बहुत पुराने होने के कारण नाजुक हो गए हैं, जिससे फटने का भय रहता है। उन समस्याओं के लिए और कुछ पृष्ठों के लापता होने के कारण कई समस्याएँ आती हैं, इसलिए अब यह तकनीक एक ऑनलाइन प्लेटफ़ॉर्म बनने जा रही है जहाँ लोग आसानी से अपने परिवार के इतिहास को लिख या टाइप कर सकते हैं और ऑनलाइन समर्थन की मदद से अपने पूर्वजों को जानने में सक्षम हो सकते हैं।

A priest carefully turning the pages of one such book, said that about 2,000 pandas living in Haridwar preserve the genealogy of their customers in the books of accounts. He also told that apart from the common people, information about generations of kings and rulers can also be found in these books of accounts.He also said that even in the age of computers, the importance of these books of papers is justified as they contain hand-written information of people's ancestors and they have also signed on it. He said that these book accounts and family information available with the pandas are also considered as legally valid.

ऐसी ही एक किताब के पन्ने पलटते हुए एक पुजारी ने कहा कि हरिद्वार में रहने वाले करीब 2,000 पंडों ने अपने ग्राहकों की वंशावली खातों की किताबों में सुरक्षित रखी है। जैसा कि आप जानते हैं कि सबसे पहले सभी भारतीय लोग नर्मदा नदी में पाप धोने के लिए हरिद्वार जाते हैं। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि आम लोगों के अलावा, इन लेखा पुस्तकों में राजाओं और शासकों की पीढ़ियों की जानकारी भी मिल सकती है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि कंप्यूटर के युग में भी, कागज की इन पुस्तकों का महत्व उचित है क्योंकि इनमें शामिल हैं लोगों के पूर्वजों की हस्तलिखित जानकारी और उस पर उन्होंने हस्ताक्षर भी किए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि पंडों के पास उपलब्ध इन बही खातों और परिवार की जानकारी को भी कानूनी रूप से वैध माना जाता है।
